Barefoot & Sunshine is a vocal-centric Americana/Roots duo dead set on making and sharing their music full-time. Life is to be lived and felt, and that’s what music is all about, really- pulling out feelings from the depths, from joy to sorrow and everything in between.Dean Mattoon and Esme Alexis blend style and voice, writing about such things as death, goodbyes, the way they wish things were, and a few good times along the way. But no matter what the sentiment, you’d be hard-pressed to find them playing a song that didn’t have great meaning to them.
Both originally from different sides of Iowa, and then existing in parallel in the same music scene for many years, they recently formed the group down in New Orleans after connecting mid-pandemic.
With a school-bus and a prayer, they are jumping in with both bare feet and chasing the sunshine that is doing what they love.
