ECHO INTERVIEW: TIMBO - The Echo

A Nashville plainsman with a voice that moans for home, singing from the heart of his travels, heartbreaks, and ups and downs along the way. Like the grit in a wound on a skinned knee, Timbo carries a sound of a life lived hard and a life lived simply adventurous. Married to a Quad City native, Timbo plays a few shows a year when visiting family-in-law. Taking time from his busy schedule we asked him a few questions about his experiences here. If you’ve never heard him before and are a fan of good country, Timbo will be playing at the Raccoon Motel, December 19th at 8PM | Click here to see schedule.

IF YOU DIDN’T BECOME A MUSICIAN, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD BE DOING RIGHT NOW?

Timbo – Maybe dead, It might have been hard to get off a destructive path. I woulda been working though!

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN PLAYING MUSIC IN THE QUAD CITIES?

Timbo – My lovely wife is from the area and she works on the out of state booking.

WHAT IS THE EXPERIENCE LIKE FOR A FIRST TIME FAN AT YOUR SHOW?

Timbo – It feels like what it sounds like & it sounds like me! The roots of my raising show I guess. I reckon it’s some kind of experience, for sure!

Taken from Timbo’s instagram – here he can be seen opening up for Sierra Elizabeth Ferrell

DESCRIBE YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS FOR MAKING NEW MUSIC?

Timbo – When it’s time to think about a new song.. I delve on memories or stories. I always have a lot of melodies in my head. If I sit and focus something always comes to me

WHAT HAS BEEN THE KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS IN THE QC MUSIC SCENE?

Timbo – Bringing my music and the music I love from my home in Music City to the QC

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT PLAYING IN THE QC AREA?

Timbo – The fact we are close to part of our family and that I haven’t explored all of the area yet. There’s always something new to see and there’s two states to do it in.

ARE THERE ANY REASONS YOU DON’T LIKE PLAYING IN THE QC AREA?

Timbo – Not a single one that I can think of. I’ll take my music anywhere to anyone who’ll listen.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO OTHER LOCAL MUSICIANS?

Timbo – Always be a student, keep it real & be yourself and travel

IF YOU COULD HAVE QUAD CITY FANS REMEMBER ONE THING ABOUT YOU?

Timbo – How the music made them feel. By the way I’d like to wish the director of this publication J. Wolfskill a happy birthday!
